Stormbringer

The Stormbringer RPG is based on Michael Moorcock's series of novels about the adventures and destiny of Elric of Melniboné, an albino sorcerer king of the ancient race of Melniboné. Elric's fate is that of desparation and chaos which finally take him to the very end of his world. He deals with humans and monsters alike and not only summons elementals and demons, but also the most powerful gods themselves. Although he may rely on companions from time to time, he rather has to face his fate alone, only accompanied by his sword, Stormbringer, whose magical enchantment and ability to drain the souls of struck foes exceed most other imaginable power. His journey takes him also to other worlds and dimensions, marking him as one of the Eternal Heros who struggle the influences of Chaos and Law in many of Moorcock's fantasy novels.

Stormbringer's rule set is quite simple and actually keeps in the background to emphasize the sinister scenario instead. Still, it superbly depicts the heroes' struggle against their odds, whatever they may be. It is the same basic rules set that other RPGs publishes by Chaosium employ.
