In Nomine... |

When God created the universe, He had a certain Symphony in mind, which is played and performed ever since. Unlike mundane man, celestial beings are aware of the Symphony. They can feel and perceive it and any severe interaction with reality causes the Symphony to be altered or, at least, to be oscillated. Creatures being regarded as celestial may usually be found among angels, heavenly creatures which help to implement and support the Symphony. Some of the celestial beings, however, do not quite seem to be content about the eternal tunes of the Symphony and have revolted against it. These beings have been cast out of Heaven. They are known as demons - fallen angels. They seek their own fortune, which is, more than often, different or even opposite to the heavenly intentions. Thus, angels and demons fight each other and struggle for dominance over what they consider their playground: the world as well as certain people living on it. In Nomine player characters are part of either side - good or evil. Players can choose to be angels or demons who venture for hegemony directly, or just mortal soldiers and servants to them. In either case, the characters are placed somewhere into the chain of command, but the more powerful they are, the more responsibility they have and the less flexible they are in regard of choosing their methods to put their plans into execution. In Nomine is available in two derivatives: the original one features a sarcastic, even comical scenario where the characters and their methods are more or less are made fun of, whereas the later version, published by Steve Jackson Games, emphasizes the harsh battle of good versus evil. |
