The Europe of the 25th century is not quite the same as we know it today. The climate has changed completely. Central Europe, for instance, is influenced by neary sub tropical, ever humid, climate. The sea level has risen and tide has swept over many of today's coastal states as well as low lying countries. Many centuries ago, a series of plagues swept over Europe, killing anybody, but children within a couple of weeks. Billions died and civilization as such existed no more. The children who survived the decay stepped out of the ashes of the fallen empire and created a civilization of their own: stripped from technology, knowledge and bureaucracy they revived a new world of medievil antiquity. The inhabitants of the new world found solace and faith in a new religion. Based on tomes that have been digged out from the lost civilization of their ancesters the new human race started to believe in the Angelic Church, a community which defied the hostility of the new world by ultimately believing in God. And one day their faith was replied and rewarded by the appearance of angels, messangers of God himself. Thenceforward, there was no more doubt in the existence of God and the church. Based on this scenario players take the roles of angels who have been sent by God and who act to help the believers according to their abilities. Although accepted, angels are still creatures of mystery and mere mortals are struck by their presence. However, apart from spreading faith among humans the angels' most important assignment is to fight the minions and creatures of The Lord of the Flies, the antagonist of the Angelic Church and humanity. Thus, to protect the human race against the insects of hell is their primal imperative. |
